What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

I came across a piece by Charles Swindoll when I was in my early years as an advisor and it helps to remind me of my purpose every day. Charles states: “The remarkable thing is we have a choice everyday regarding the attitude we will embrace for that day. Life is 10% what happens to me and 90% how I react to it. We are in charge of our attitudes. Attitude ultimately determines our Altitude” – Charles Swindoll

What does clarity mean to you?

Clarity, to me, is having a strong understanding of where you’ve been, why you’re here, and where you want to go.

Jay is the founder and managing partner of Clarity Wealth Management. After graduating from Christ College, the Honors Program at Valparaiso University, in 1981, Jay established himself as a young professional and entrepreneur, creating his own irrigation landscaping company. After selling the company and taking “early retirement” at age 30, Jay’s detailed and analytical work ethic led him to the world of financial planning. Starting in 1991, Jay has helped his clients find educational, collaborative, and thorough solutions to advanced retirement, investment, estate, and charitable planning. Most recently, Jay and his team have created the Clear Path Process™, an innovative, customized, and effective planning process that helps each of their clients find clarity to and through their retirement path. Jay distinguishes himself by listening carefully to his clients’ personal and financial needs.

Jay has extensive experience in working with a wide range of clients including corporate executives, retirees, professionals, business owners and single females who are looking for a guide to take them on a path to their financial future.

When he is not working to blaze a path for his clients, Jay enjoys spending time with his wife Lee Anne and rescue dog, Trudy, working on their newly acquired farm. Much of his inspiration for The Clear Path Process™ came from his love of this 98-year-old farm and his passion for hiking and travel. Jay hopes to one day make the farm a place where people can redefine themselves and help give clarity to their own lives.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

E + R = O.  Event + Response = Outcome.  You can’t control the things/events that happen in your life, but you can control your response to those events.  Your response will determine the outcome.

What does clarity mean to you?

To me, it does not mean having a crystal clear picture of what exactly is going to happen in your life because that isn’t possible.  Life has a funny way of throwing a lot of curve balls at you.  Clarity is knowing where you want to go or what you want to achieve and having true and unwavering confidence that no matter what curve balls are thrown at you, the path you’re on and the plan you’ve made will be able to deal with them.

Matt is the lead advisor and partner of Clarity Wealth Management. He began his financial planning career with Wachovia Securities Financial Network while attending The Ohio State University and since then has had over 11 years of experience working with corporate executives, young professionals, and business owners who are looking to maximize the value of their financial resources and find clear paths for their financial future. He works in a driven and collaborative manner to ensure that his clients have a guide for their journey who is there to ensure no financial planning gaps exist and no opportunities are over looked.

When he is not focused on work, his greatest joys include spending time with his wife Abby, two twins: Henry and Kinsley, and dog, Eddie. Along with that, he is an active participant of CrossFit and serves as a member of the Rising Professionals Network at DePaul Cristo Rey Catholic High School where his wife works in Development and Fundraising.

A native Cincinnatian and graduate of Moeller High School, Matt takes extreme pride in this city and the people that he works with every day.

Matt is currently series 7 and 66 securities registered and is licensed for health insurance as well. What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

Since childhood, in the often-repeated stern, but nurturing words of my paternal grandfather who immigrated from Russian occupied Poland in 1911, and with little education, he became quite successful and took great pride in his three sons becoming doctors:

“Success is not about making money.  It is about helping people and making the world a better place. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. If you think you are smarter or better than others, you are going nowhere.”


What does Clarity mean to you?

To me, considering the almost infinite and often conflicting amount of information that is available at our fingertips today, Clarity relates to how we assist you in making sense of the complexities and cut through the clutter to identify solutions to your problems.


Bob is an advisor and practice management consultant at Clarity Wealth Management. After three years as a pre-med student at Indiana University and deciding that he no longer wanted to be a doctor, Bob began his career with Lincoln in 1969 as a Management Development Intern in his hometown of South Bend, Indiana. With a new sense of purpose and his passion for providing a high standard of care that would ensure the financial well-being of others, his career flourished.

Lincoln appointed Bob as a Managing Partner of the Cincinnati Office in 1984, where he initiated its transition to become a multi-service, comprehensive financial planning firm known as Oxford Financial Group. Under his leadership, the firm became one of Lincoln Financial Advisors most elite and successful offices. As a result, by 2004, it had evolved to become the Midwest Regional Planning Group, with Bob serving as Managing Director for five states with over 300 financial planning professionals.

Bob retired from active management in 2007 to further promote the capabilities of the firm and expand upon the unique financial and investment planning services provided to a select group of individuals who are clients of his private practice. As the newest member of Clarity Wealth Management’s team, he will continue doing the same for joint clients of the firm.

Bob is actively involved in his industry and the community.  He is President of the Society of Financial Service Professionals, past President of the General Agents and Managers Association and a former board member of the Financial Planning Association. Bob is “Mentor/Coach” volunteer for Winners Walk Tall, a non-profit for whom he visits inner-city elementary school classes to deliver a motivational character-building program for 4th-grade students.  Bob is also a Certified Mentor for SCORE, a National, SBA-affiliated non-profit that provides free consulting services for small and startup businesses.  Bob is a former Trustee for Chatfield College.

When he is not working or serving the community, Bob enjoys spending time with his wife Donna and their family-sons John and Frank, Frank’s spouse Nicole and their daughter Monroe. Bob is an avid reader who loves hiking, travel, cats, dogs, and gourmet cooking with Donna for their family and many close friends.

Bob holds a FINRA Series 24 General Securities Principal license, Series 1 Registered Representative license, and Series 66 Uniform State Law Registrations. He is licensed in Ohio, Indiana, and California. Bob has earned the CHARTERED FINANCIAL CONSULTANT and CHARTERED LIFE UNDERWRITING designations  from the American College, Bryn Mawr, PA, and the CHARTERED RETIREMENT PLANNING COUNSELOR® designation from the College for Financial Planning. Prior to retiring from his 30-year field management role, Bob served as a member LFA’s Management Advisory Council and as an LFA appointed Board Member. Bob was also Chairman of the Investment Committee for The Resource Group, an invitation-only, nationwide network of the top 200 planners within Lincoln Financial Advisors.

What is the best piece of advice you have ever received?

One of the best pieces of advice I received is "if it is to be, it must begin with me".  I try to embody this message as much as possbile, whether it is for daily motivation or when it comes to societal/community change I wish to see.

What does clarity mean to you?

When you take a step back to see the whole picture, it makes a crytstal-clear path forward easier to see.

Courtney joined the Clarity Wealth Management team in 2020 as a Client Services Specialist. She comes to Clarity with over 10 years of professional experience directing and managing a youth sports program, specifically gymnastics. In this position, she developed a strong "people first" mentality that she applies to her work every day with Clarity Wealth Management.

Courtney excels in establishing and servicing Clarity Wealth Management’s client investment and insurance accounts as well as being Office Manager for the practice. She is also heavily involved in the preparation of financial plans and meeting materials. Courtney looks to better herself each and every day as she works with a wonderful team and group of clients. She receives satisfaction in helping clients successfully find clear paths to their financial future and ensuring a top-notch client experience.

Courtney is a Cincinnati native who moved away to the Charlotte area for quite some time and found her way back home in the last few years. Her son is a second-year student at Vanderbilt studying physics and her daughter is on the track team at Sycamore High School. Go Aves! In her free time, she enjoys hiking, baking, and game nights with her loved ones.
